This knock box model Metal M is a knock-box mix that is used both in private households and in bars, restaurants or small cafés. It has a capacity of 2.5 liters, which is more than twice as much as a classic knock box. In this respect, the dimensions and capacity bridge the gap between bars etc. and private households. In private households, the coffee grounds container needs to be changed at most once a week, which of course depends on the amount of coffee consumed – the bottom of the knock box is lined with rubber so that all impacts from the portafilter are reliably absorbed and the table surface is not damaged.
The aluminum bar provides stability and can withstand pretty much anything that can happen in a café or kitchen. It easily withstands impacts from a portafilter. The black silicone gives the knock bar the dampening properties expected from a knock box in this price range.
The silicone is of course made from food-safe material. The black silicone absorbs the impact so the filter holder can be knocked off with great force without anything happening.
Recycling the Coffee Pucks
The collected coffee pucks can be collected in the knock box to be recycled later. The used coffee is excellent for fertilizing plants or as an addition to compost. Dried coffee pucks, on the other hand, can be burned well at the next barbecue or simply in the fireplace in the evening.
